Material study
Project Description :
For this piece I used a layering technique, creating a lattice-like structure that reads as a study in rhythm and repetition. The curved wooden elements form a dynamic, spatial experience, with each layer adding depth and dimensionality that draws the eye vertically. There's an interplay between mass and void, emphasizing a tension between structural integrity and visual lightness.
The sculpture’s morphology hints at organic inspiration, perhaps anthropomorphic, while still adhering to a controlled, grid-based framework. The decision to keep the material raw reinforces an architectural honesty, allowing the form itself to take precedence.
It almost feels like a conceptual model of a facade system, where the layering could be interpreted as a double-skin or a brise-soleil, filtering light and casting shadows in an evocative manner. The piece could be seen as an exploration of how planar elements can create volume and fluidity, challenging traditional perceptions of solidity in architectural form.
