Project Description :

"Emergent Terrain" presents a future vision of Miami that confronts rising sea levels through a distinct architectural language of elevation and adaptation. The sculpture embodies verticality, with staggered forms that symbolize the city’s potential to rise and thrive above environmental challenges.
The architecture here is not just a backdrop for nature but an active participant in nurturing it—demonstrating how the built environment can serve as a protective, living infrastructure. The vertical forms in "Emergent Terrain" draw from a contemporary architectural language of sustainability and resilience, where structures are designed to elevate and safeguard the community.
By rising above potential floodwaters, the city becomes a dynamic terrain that promotes biodiversity and preserves its natural identity. The sculpture envisions a future where architecture and nature work in tandem, illustrating how cities can evolve by both responding to and respecting their environments.
The forms will be cast in 3D-printed molds (Made of conrete or cement with steel rebar) and stacked on top of each other, caged by welded aluminum, creating a layered, elevated structure that reflects the interplay of architectural precision and natural integration. This method of fabrication emphasizes the controlled, yet organic nature of the design, reinforcing the vision of a future Miami that rises through both innovation and environmental harmony.
This can be easily installed indoors or outdoors. Through this vision, "Emergent Terrain" presents an optimistic, forward-looking narrative of a Miami that has successfully overcome sea level rise by embracing elevation, sustainability, and beauty in both its architecture and natural landscapes.
